The “Teatro dell’Olivo” is in the place where there was a stretcher of the wool; built during the course of ‘500, the strecher failed and the owner left the town. In 1649 the “Accademia dei Deboli”, an association composed by a group of Camaiore’s citizens, asked to re-open the building, so that it could host comedies and others scenic representations. Since 1720 some interventions have been made on the edifice: the firsts shelf has been built and the stage has been realised; in 1753 they have add 12 shelf in the first layout and 5 in the second one. But the moment of the true reborn for the theatre was in 1772, during the birth of the “Compagnia del Teatro dell’Olivo”. Since 1930 to 1942 the edifice has become a cinema-theatre; it was closed in 1944, after the blast of some mines inside the theatre, that caused a lot of damages. After a series of renovations works, the “Teatro dell’Olivo” was re-opened to the citizens in 2003.
