Where: Camaiore - town of Metato
When: IV - III centuries BC
Grotta della Fibula is a cave placed on the left bank of Rio dei Colli river, just below the town of Metato. Once upon a time it was bigger, but its vault was partially collapsed.
A surface cleaning revealed the presence of Renaissance clay fragments, some coarse clay fragments, purified ceramics and a bronze fibula of the "Certosa" type (picture on the left), that could be related to the Ligurian - Apuan culture and that dates back to IV - III centuries BC.
The materials are now exhibited at the Civico Museo Archeologico of Camaiore.
